In an investor’s meeting, Nintendo President, Tatsumi Kimishima announced that Nintendo’s new membership program will be known as “Nintendo Account.” It’s unknown whether this will provide features to replace the now retired Club Nintendo program, however, Kimishima did state that it will connect PC and smartphone users, as well as owners of Nintendo consoles and handheld systems. Also announced was a cloud-based system to transfer data between mobile and console games, which will presumably work in tandem with Nintendo Account.
We’ll update this article when we hear more.
UPDATE: Seems like the launch of Nintendo’s first smartphone game has been delayed until March 2016 instead of this year as originally planned. It’s unknown if this is also the launch window for Nintendo Account.
UPDATE 2: In a strange twist of fate, it seems Nintendo’s stock just dropped 7%.
