One major reason for amiibo being so hard to find in North America is the fact that many are exclusive to certain retailers, such as Target, or Gamestop. While it has been suspected that the agreements that Nintendo made with these retailers are only limited time, there hasn’t been any official statement on it yet. However, the @amiiboAlerts Twitter account recently discovered several previous retail exclusives in Best Buy’s inventory system, which could mean that they are indeed timed exclusives. The amiibo found include Shulk, Greninja, Mewtwo (Which confirms that it is NOT a retail exclusive), and Lucario.
